Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student and I went through her business emails and identified errors. We wrote a list of the sentences, rewrote them incorrectly, and then wrote them correctly. In a third column, we cited the spelling, grammatical, and structural errors that were corrected."
"In this session we covered two passages, "Saving for a Cause" and "Honoring King." Students practiced doing textual analysis steps and answering MC questions. Some of the students were not able to complete all the questions on time. More practice needed."
"We reviewed grammar and vocabulary from last time. I taught the student how to say basic body parts in English, and we worked on auxiliary verbs. I also taught him a few more phrases for speaking with the media."
"1. The student finished reading last week's obesity article and discussed who is really to blame for the problem. 2. To work on describing action, we looked at several photos and put them into words. 3. We reviewed last week's phrasal verbs with examples. 4. A worksheet with sentence errors was created, which we worked on. The student identified a few of the errors, but he missed some as well, so it was a good challenge. 5. Together, we took turns reading "12 Habits of Healthy People," so we could talk about lifestyle choices and how they relate to health."
"Today we spent the majority of time discussing a short essay from my anthology book. Each of us took a turn reading the essay out loud paragraph by paragraph and then we discussed the content. The main purpose in doing this was to not only familiarize the students with the expressions, pronunciation and intonation/pitch, but to also articulate the content and discuss it immediately after reading it out loud. At the end, we briefly talked about the role playing we will do next session."
"In this session we casually chatted, discussed some films and then reviewed business emails the client had worked on. We also discussed an upcoming business meeting and went over talking points that he could use in the meeting."

"Today we started our session by discussing the student's tutoring needs and English knowledge. We dedicated most of the time to basic conversation to determine his vocabulary and comprehension of the English grammar. He can easily put together sentences and knows a considerable amount of words. During our next sessions we will be dedicating some time to the English grammar and most of the time to conversation."
"The student and I corrected his homework and went back over the test. We then did some exercises. He has homework for next session. He also wanted to do irregular verbs and their meanings. He said he would like to improve these type of verbs. This is what we are going to do for our next session."
