Recent CLEP Principles of Management Tutoring Session Notes
Today was our first session. Vocabulary is her area of greatest need, so we spent a lot of time today going over word roots and how to break down words into prefixes, suffixes, and stems. We also worked some on the reading comprehension part, going over some strategy to break it down a bit more.
We spent the majority of the time going over the practice test the student did over the weekend. He did a good job. We also did some practice with the Logical Reasoning section at the end.
We finished the final 3 sections of the test that the student did on her own, and we scored the whole test. Her scores were significantly higher than the first time she took the test - and these higher scores are MUCH more representative of her abilities. Her math skills are absolutely ELITE, and her verbal and writing skills are also top-notch. The only thing left is to make sure that she can perform under the time constraints as well. I have very little doubt.
The student took a full length math test, since he hadn't taken one under timed conditions. Within an hour, he was able to get to all except the last ten, so we discussed strategies for time management. We also continued discussing important geometry concepts and formulas.

The student and I reviewed all the parts of the ISEE test for grades 7 and 8. He could spend some time on vocabulary development but his knowledge of all the other areas is very strong. He has work to do before our next meeting and plans to email me a short essay.
