Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on her homework, the review packet for math, and her narrative. We then started to write about her egg drop on the worksheet that was due today. After that, we began to make flashcards for her vocab."
"The student and I continued to prepare for his test during this session. We went over a 25-question long practice test which covered spelling, punctuation, reading comprehension, and sentence structure. We went through the practice test question by question, to assure he was understanding all of the concepts. I think with more practice and strategy he will do great! He's enthusiastic to improve. He just needs to sharpen his test-taking skills. Afterwards, we completed two pages from his writing/reading workbook and another two pages from the math workbook."
"I helped the student with his social studies and language arts homework. We finished a little early with the homework, so we read a couple of chapters of a novel out loud together."
"On Sunday, I went through the student's online platform looking at his grades for all his classes. He worked on one of his assignments that he had not turned in for his language arts class and he was able to turn it in. When I ask him about several of his assignments that he has not turned in he tells me he doesn't know what they are. I told him several things he needs to ask his teachers about and had him write them down in his planner. I also told him to ask his teachers about extra credit. Hopefully, by next weekend we will have more information about what he needs to do to bring his grades up."
"Today, we were able to review and practice a few things that the student was working on in school. First, she worked on a math worksheet with fractions, percents, and decimals. Then, she filled in some language arts notes. We also completed some practice problems on integers from an app on her iPad. She said that she finished her reading book last week. We reviewed the book and took a multiple choice quiz from the internet. We finished the session by reviewing her study guide in social studies and language arts."
"The student did his homework for math, which covered solving inequalities and graphing the solution, and English, which covered possessive pronouns and adjectives along with antecedents and matching pronouns. For math, he was able to solve the problems that were already in a certain format but he struggled to solve problems that were not already given to him in that format. It took some time to teach him how to adjust the problems to that format and then solve. For English, the biggest issue was having him really slow down and think through his work. I will be bringing additional examples for these concepts next time."
