Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We mostly went over limits and derivatives today. I think a lot of clarity was gained in both areas."
"Student has an upcoming test in integration. We worked our way though a packet of problems. She has the most trouble with substitution and trigonometry, so we targeted those problems and did extra practice."
"In today's session, we reviewed for the final exam. The student was strong in the beginning chapters so we focused on latest chapters. The student has a good understanding of the overall course."
"Today we covered finding the absolute maximum and minimum in an interval. For this we needed to first find the derivative, then set it equal to zero, solve for x and then plug in values into our original function. Having a solid foundation of derivatives was key today and the student did really well. Again his algebra faltered a little when solving for x, but I think working on the problems together helped remind him of some algebra steps. We will continue to work on this."
"The student and I determined whether given function is continuous, continuously differentiable. We proved the existence of critical point using Rolle's Theorem and found the tangent point parallel given the secant, using the mean value theorem. We found the apex of a projectile's trajectory and practiced the quotient rule and chain rule."
"The student had a packet of AP problems. He had the majority of them finished or attempted. He has generally needed help with knowing what concepts to use. I suggested that he buy spiraled index cards to write various theorems/ procedures with an example and keywords. This will give him something in his own words to reference as he works through practice problems."
