Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I helped the student review a quiz that reviewed the concepts coming up on the test. He made very few mistakes on the older problems. On the new word problems, he has trouble remembering how to set them up. Once I helped him with that part, he can solve the problem without much help. I gave him some pointers for the test."
"I met today with the student, and we worked on finishing a review for her exam. We worked on solving problems with series and sequences. We also worked on word problems involving series. She seemed to have understood the problems. I also suggested reviewing the problems on her own before the exam."
"I met with the student for the first time, and we proceeded to begin working from Section 1.1 in order to make sure what she has learned is reinforced. I also made sure she understood underlying concepts behind why things are done in order to strengthen her math foundation."
"I met with the student for our first meeting. He has an exam tomorrow, and was in need of help. We worked mainly on quadratic equations, discriminants (from quadratic equations), factoring, and completing the square. He knew a lot of the basics already, so most of the session was reviewing what he knew, and trying to sharpen up his skills."
"I met with the student on Tuesday and Thursday. On Tuesday, I spent the session preparing him for his social studies exam that was on Wednesday. I reviewed key terms, key figures, and important events. On Thursday, I spent the entire session going over the questions he got wrong on an exam. After some review, he seemed to grasp the material well."
"I met with the student this evening and we had a good session. We actually worked primarily on Math, but also touched on science and LA. In math, she has been working on decimals and fractions and the multiplying and dividing of these. They also had a math test, so they will be moving onto Ch. 4. She does pretty much everything on the computer and did not have a math book for me to look at. She will bring it home for our next meeting next Tuesday. At that point, I will be able to better assess what and where we need to go to advance the student's studies. We will also get into more ways for her to excel. We worked on LA with possessive nouns. She is a bright, articulate young student and we should have a very good working relationship."
