Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I started our first session with a quick discussion of his academic history in math. He then worked on his current homework assignment for his algebra class, on factoring polynomials. He has a good understanding of factoring. He is a bright, friendly kid who was focused, attentive, and engaged throughout our session. I look forward to helping him with his algebra class!"
"The student and I went over a number of math worksheets. He understands most of the content. His work ethic is improving along with his understanding."
"The student and I went over a ton of information today. First, we covered some problems he had trouble with on a homework assignment from yesterday. Next, we went through his homework assignment for tonight. The concepts we went through included arithmetic and geometric sequences. He now has a really strong grasp of how to determine if a sequence is geometric by finding the common ratio (r). From there, he can write out the explicit and recursive formulas and use the explicit formula to find an a(n) value. Tomorrow, we plan on covering the remaining concepts that will be on his test this Friday."
"The student and I went over equations in slope intercept form, and solving for unknown variables in multi-step equations, for her upcoming final math exam. Then she finished some problems on inequalities for homework."
"The student and I went over geometry and finding missing angles. At first, she needed help a bit with finding angles, and at the end of the sessions, she grasped the concept much more. She was eager to make sure that she truly understood the material that was taught and reinforced."
"The student and I went over graphing linear equations (using ordered pairs, equations in standard form, and y-intercept form), and using linear equations to solve application problems. He needed help understanding how to find the x- and y-intercepts, and interpreting what these mean in application situations, so we went over those in detail. He had a good attitude the entire session, and we worked a number of problems together. I included some strategies and tips for him when he is solving application problems to clearly label his independent and dependent variables, so that it is easier to visualize what he is solving for. He said he did well on his last math test, which covered the material from our last session."
