We worked on different topics regarding parabolas, circles, ellipses and hyperbolas. We covered completing the square in order to determine the (h, k) from an equation, which was a topic the student most struggled with. We also worked through multiple problems dealing with the vertices of an ellipse and hyperbola, which was another part that she struggled with. However, she quickly learned how to succeed on problems like those. She was very positive and understood what was being taught. We discussed some general notes/tricks that she could use to remember how to attack certain equations. I did not leave her with any extra practice, but did offer for her to call me if she had any other questions before her test tomorrow. She told me that she felt more confident and prepared for her exam at the end of the session.
