Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This time we reviewed a few online homework assignments involving mostly review material from algebra. The student is confident in his abilities regarding this material."
"The student and I discussed limits. We reviewed for a quiz on limits discussing graphing, left and right side limits, factoring for rational limits and also delta x problems. I left review problems with solutions for him to practice. He worked hard and was a pleasure to work with."
"We talked about how to evaluate limits with trigonometric functions. Common techniques for simplifying these limits included multiplying by the conjugate and adjusting the argument of the function so that it matched a commonly understood limit. We also talked briefly about how to apply the chain rule, quotient rule, and further simplification. The student will work on more problems similar to what we talked about to cement the concepts."
"We went through several related rate problems focusing mainly on being able to set up a function from a word problem. We also reviewed using the chain rule to take derivatives of composite functions, particularly square root functions. We talked about how rate of change and speed are both derivatives of various functions. I left a worksheet of more related rate word problems for the student if she wants more practice and showed her the website to get the answer key."
"We did nearly 40 problems on differentiation using product rule, quotient rule with mixed functions of polynomials, logarithmic functions, and exponential functions. Some of these are application problems."
"Today we covered infinite limits and limits at infinity. Along with these limits, we covered vertical and horizontal asymptotes. We went through some practice problems as well. The student has a test coming up that she is preparing for. I think things are going well."
