Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This is a student who really benefits from bouncing his thoughts off someone else when working on his homework, because he already understands the concepts well. In the case of yesterday, he was able to work through most of his homework by himself. He made an error or two with his algebra, so we'll work on checking his answers, and this should build his confidence."
"This is the invoice for our last two sessions. Today, we went over the student's practice quiz, and then did her study sheet to prepare for the test. She is doing much better remembering the formulas for the areas of triangles and circles and doing the endpoint formula. I think she will do well on her exam as long as she remembers the formulas!"
"This session served as a review of things that we have covered lately. We began with an angle proof. The student is getting better at creating the needed steps, but is sometimes hesitant to write them and needs encouragement. Next, we did a line proof. He solved that one quickly. Afterwards, I have a few diagrams and had him solve for X angle amount. He got them all correct. The last thing we did was review simplifying square roots. I encouraged him to continue to practice his multiplication skills, so he can use them quickly when he needs them in class."
"This session was used to cover the information from her homework assignment. They are currently working on Asymptotes and intercepts. She really understands the information."
"This session, we reviewed points and lines on graphs. We figured out the slopes of lines, identified parallel/perpendicular/neither and discussed what small/large negative/positive slopes looked like. We covered the student's assigned homework. Much of this was a review for her, and it came pretty easily to her. I noticed that she makes small mistakes from time to time, such as forgetting a negative sign. She works neatly though so that minimizes the mistakes she makes."
"This student has demonstrated great progress over the last two weeks. We are still awaiting the results of last week's exam, but he expressed confidence in his performance. His confidence was evident in review of parallel lines and angular relationships. Because he is doing so well with the chapter 3 material, we worked ahead through the remainder of the chapter, discussed slope in detail, and worked on a practice test."
