Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over his last homework assignment finding the transformations of a rational function, and it was related to tonight's homework (graphing rational functions). I showed him a different method for finding his asymptotes that was easier for him to understand. We worked on a few together, and then he did the remainder on his own, while I checked his work. He graphed functions relatively quickly and seemed to understand the concept."
"The student and I went over how to manipulate complex numbers. We went over adding them, subtracting them, and multiplying them. We also reviewed how to factor a quadratic equation. Finally we went over some word problems involving algebraic expressions."
"The student and I went over how to write equations for cosecant and secant graphs for the majority of the tutoring session (about an hour). For the last half hour we did a quick review of how to graph sine, cosine, tangent and cotangent graphs in order to review for her test tomorrow. She left the session much more confident."
"The student and I went over points that were giving her trouble. We covered using information given by polynomials in order to determine what the graph might look like and vice versa. We covered leading term theorem and end behavior. We also went over her last quiz where we touched on domain and range. She is quick to grasp concepts."
"The student and I went over polynomials with degree larger than 2, finding zeros, and multiplicities, as well as the relationship between these and highest degrees, y-intercepts, and end behavior rules and strategy. He struggled with some important details but was overall very attentive and willing to learn. I recommended that the more practice he does, the better he will get at this and efficiently and accurately execute the exercises on a test or exam."
"The student and I went over quadratics and complex numbers. We did a bunch of exercises, and we worked on her homework. She seemed to be even more enthusiastic in this last session! I'm glad that our lessons are being helpful!"
