Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The topics covered in this session include long division, spelling, history, and rocket math. During this session, we were able to complete the student's math homework, which she seemed to understand well and was fluent with her steps. We also completed the student's spelling homework, which she completed with ease. We also reviewed the student's Middle Ages study guide for her history test and were able to figure out any missing explanations. At the end of the session, we did five 1-minute timed multiplication problems from her rocket math sheets, which the student seemed to improve on each time."
"This tutoring session consisted of reviewing over decimal expanded form. We did several activities on decimal expanded form. The student did well on this activity. This was a very productive tutoring session."
"This was our first tutoring session. I worked with the student on her current math skills learned in school--place value, understanding digits to the thousandths, and comparing decimals. I spoke with her mother about concerns about foundational math skills, and we worked on multiplication skills during this first session. I used visual and creative teaching styles during the session, which worked well with her learning."
"This week the student and I started by working on her math homework. She did fine with most things, but she is having trouble still with place value. We talked about the value of each number and how it's the place that it is in, plus the number. She did very well with the part that had 2 digit by 1 digit multiplication. We ended by working on her homework. She did well on most of it but is still a little confused about what pronouns are."
"This week we worked on Perimeter and Area at increasing difficulty. The student has gotten better and better at explaining why certain answers are correct or incorrect. He has increased his critical thinking skills. Very impressive!"
"Time was split between student one and two. The first 45 minutes with student one, then a half hour with student two, and finishing the last 45 minutes with student one. Student one had missed a day of school, so the two of us had some catching up to work on. We were able to finish all of his math work. Student one had some trouble keeping focus, but we worked through it. Student two needed to complete all of chapter two in a spelling workbook. We finished all but two pages and a paragraph exercise. I explained to their Grandmother, since their Mom and Dad were gone having a well deserved vacation, what work was left for both children and explained what the assignments were asking."
