"We started on preparing the student for his test on upcoming Friday. We started doing and understanding the problems on the review for his test. We worked on the pressure, apparent mass, Young modulus and density."
"We covered the basics of electrostatic fields and forces. We talked about how to calculate electric fields in various arrangements, and how to draw electric field lines. I found out that the student did not have any experience with vectors, so we are going to talk about that next time."
"The student continued to work on the human power lab, calculating the cost per joule of eating a certain meal three times a day, the cost of gasoline for joule and the cost of electricity per joule. She then compared the costs of feeding a person using food energy costs, gasoline energy costs and electrical energy costs. She also discussed how these costs are related to the energy crisis and how food energy costs have changed since the 1890s. She also worked on unit conversion between units of power and energy."
"We reviewed the course material and pacing, as well as the topics the the student struggled with in previous classes. We briefly discussed electric potential, and we will return to it in our next session. We also talked about capacitors and their fundamental functioning. She would really like to understand capacitors and batteries, so we will work on that later. In our next session, we will cover one of the problems that she struggled with (3 point charges, finding equilibrium location), electric field structure based on point charge location, and electric potential."
"We reviewed the exam practice the student got from her professor for her exam tomorrow. We worked through the problems and she was able to think through them mostly on her own. We also covered some homework problems. I helped to clarify some concepts. Overall everything went great, she said she felt more confident about the material then she did before we met. I think she will do great!"
"We reviewed the student's first two tests in physics. This covered topics such as 2-D Kinematics, introduction to Newton's second law, and vectors. In our next session, we will continue to review her exams."
