How can a tutor help your child master the HSPT?

If you're the parent of a middle school student who is planning on attending a private high school, especially a Catholic school, then they may need to take the High School Placement Test, or HSPT. This standardized test is taken by students in the 8th grade, and it is commonly used by religious schools to determine admissions. Students who take this test may be quizzed on language arts, math, quantitative skills, reading, verbal skills, and an optional section that covers Catholic religion, science, or mechanical aptitude. Since it is important that your student scores high on the test, you should consider placing them in a one-on-one tutoring program. The educational directors at Varsity Tutors are skilled at helping students in Cincinnati, OH, connect with HSPT tutors.

If you're looking for HSPT tutors in Cincinnati, OH, the educational directors at Varsity Tutors may be happy to help. We may assist you in finding a tutor who may give your child the assistance they need to prepare for the HSPT in addition to learning the strategies necessary to understand standardized tests. Every lesson may be taught in a student-centered style that allows your child to work with their tutor as they complete various problems. Since the tutor is committed to helping your student reach their goals, lessons may be arranged to promote an overall understanding of the HSPT, or to focus on specific areas of the course.

We went over reading problems from homework, discussed specific points on approaching "main idea" type questions, finding the answer/suggestion in the passage, avoiding distractors that are too vague or narrow. We discussed some of the logic-type questions and how to approach them more systematically. The student continues to be an excellent student, is very motivated and is aiming very high for his performance on the exam.
