Today, I met the student for the first time. We went over 2 problems on his current assignment. The first problem was a Tank problem with the rate of concentration in to a filter, and a rate of concentration out of the filter. The second problem was a reversed Newton's Law of Cooling, where a water bottle is allowed to heat up to room temperature. We had very good discussions of each of the steps to solve both problems. Student has a firm grasp of how to solve the differential equations. We will meet next weekend to solve more problems.

Today we reviewed the picture associations for each digit 2-9. I presented a story and visual image for the facts 2 x 2, 2 x 3, and 2 x 4. I'm starting easy so the student gets the hang of how the program works. I also didn't want to overload him with visual images. We then reviewed the names of quadrilaterals. He was able to identify the shape when given the name. He did a great job categorizing the shapes by attributes, while also reviewing geometric vocabulary. We then reviewed the names of regular polygons by the number of sides they had. He does well with hexagon and octagon. The others need reminders. We then practiced a 2-digit multiplication problem (I let him use a multiplication chart) and he remembered the process. We then practiced several long division problems, changing the remainder into a decimal. He could use more practice in this skill.
