We discussed why conservation and the maintenance of genetic diversity is important. We talked about how decreased gene flow between populations can be caused by fragmentation of habitats and leads increased susceptibility to genetic drift. Finally, we talked about methods of conservation such as captive breeding and the maintenance of gene banks.
