Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was a special day, this is the 12th week I have worked with the student, also the week of Christmas, so I brought a present as a reward for her excellent work. The reward was a Chinese calligraphy set, since she showed a great interest in Chinese language and culture, so I thought it's a good time to introduce her the art of calligraphy. I showed her the process of the work, we practiced together several times, then she tried it on her own, we had a great time! I also used it as an opportunity to review what we did last session. As the volume of vocab gets bigger and bigger, I try to incorporate vocabulary into our sessions more. I picked out words that she missed for her to practice, and she made flashcards of those words using the calligraphy set, cementing them into her memory."
"We covered chapters 6-10 in both the book and the workbook in a review to see how much Chinese the student remembered from our earlier lessons. We then reviewed the vocabulary words for next week ."
"We did a lot of review and also covered some new vocabularies. Had them and try to use them as many times as possible."
"The student and I started a new chapter that will take us through some important concepts, and reinforce some things he already knows. All in all, a great session."
"The students continued to review the colors we have learned so far by drawing/coloring pictures, including white, red, blue, pink, green, black, and yellow. We also did an activity on identifying the consonants in Chinese. Additionally, we learned to write the radicals for movement, son, and tree/wood. They did excellently on the activities and were imaginative when drawing the pictures."
"Today the students and I worked on the calendar, colors, and body parts. Additionally, we learned more animal vocabulary. The next time we meet we will wrap up our unit on animals and begin something new."
