Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered relative adjectives and adverbs, and vocabulary on directions, accommodation and going shopping."
"Today we covered household vocabulary, reviewed numbers 1-30, and continued reading La Ciudad de Vidrio. The session went very well, the student is feeling a lot more comfortable with the sessions. I feel that we have been able to find a good content level to continue developing her skills. The one thing I noticed is that she was not able to practice her vocabulary words during the week. So we have made a plan to have her practice her words more frequently for retention purposes."
"I spent the first half of the session working with student A and the second half of the session working with student B. I spent some of the session working with student A on vocabulary for his upcoming quiz. Student B and I spent the time preparing for a test he has, where he must describe a picture using appropriate vocabulary. I emphasized to him that he must study all of his vocabulary in order to do decently on the test."
"The student and I worked to get him ready for his test tomorrow by reviewing indefinite affirmative and negative words a final time, using worksheets from his teacher as well as some I brought. We worked on a test-taking strategy to mark up his test packet to help him solve for the correct word. We also reviewed the conjugation of reflexive verbs, when the reflexive needs to be used, and how to form the reflexive in the infinitive."
"The student did his exam for his final chapter. He did better than he thought he would, especially on things like ser vs. estar and the present progressive tense. We did more conversation practice for his oral exam, as well."
"The student had received a long, extensive vocabulary list that was four pages long, double sided, of all of the new vocab that the class will be covering for the quarter. The list was about 1/5 completed, so we set out to define all the vocab words, and proceeded to go over them. I quizzed him on a portion of them (clothing), and he did a good job of being able to recall them. We determined that we will continue working on memorization of this quarter's vocab words, to give him a head start and to build his comfort and confidence with any upcoming assignments, quizzes, and tests."
