"We were able to cover a number of concepts related to the concept, definition, and nature of the Phillips curve (and the inverse relationship between inflation and unemployment). We also discussed how the short run Phillips curve (and long run curve) are affected with various policy actions and the importance of understanding the relationship between these curves and policy implementation. This was also "connected" with shifts and changes that can occur pertaining to the AD-AS model. We also covered a "real world" question related to pre-election and post-election policy, and discussed how this impacts the Phillips curve and the AD-AS model as well."
"Today the student and I prepared for this Thursday's AP Macro exam. We reviewed six Free Response Questions from the exam, which she did very well on. The only areas she had trouble with were the various shifters of the supply and demand curves in the loanable funds market--so we highlighted that as an area and conducted further review. She has shown great work ethic and improvement, and I am confident she will pass Thursday's test."
"We went over a section of the AP exam. For the most part she understood the material but had a little bit of trouble understanding the concept of interest rate's influence on currency value and the difference between monetary and fiscal policy. I went over the concepts in detail to make sure she understood the material. After she felt more confident in the topics, I had her attempt her corrections. She was able to get a majority of her corrections right, but I made sure she understood all of her mistakes. We also went over some open-ended questions, and I made sure the student knew what was being asked of her before attempting the problems. When given the right direction, she was able to maneuver through problems with ease. She takes the final on Monday."
