Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I focused exclusively on the math test during this session. We began by exploring some math-specific test-taking strategies that were new to her. We also talked about which questions to attempt to solve only if her calculator is working (as opposed to guessing), such as those that involve finding the sine or cosine of various fractions that have pi as the numerator. Because she wants to go into engineering, we tackled content review in greater detail, especially with respect to plane-based geometry and function-based problems. Her math skills are fairly solid, but she expressed that she isn't used to needing to have equations memorized; since we saw a few questions that could be solved much more quickly and simply by using standard equations, she has resolved to practice using those equations by solving sample problems. She continues to show dedication and an openness to learning both strategies and content; I enjoy working with her, and look forward to watching her progress as our sessions continue."
"The student finished Practice Test 1 in the red book. Her reading score was a 32. We worked more together on the science test, so we do not yet have a score for that one. We also reviewed the essay she wrote for homework. She did really well."
"Started out with a primer in geometry (he hasn't taken it yet). We then moved onto a math section and about half a critical reading session."
