"We continued to work on diagramming linear games. For next time, the student is going to finish the rest of the problem set. I will write out an explanation for problem eight."
"This lesson the student and I spent most of our time going through the games that I gave her to work on her own. We quickly went through the one grouping game, going over the few questions that she missed. We then moved onto the second grouping game I gave her. We then did the grouping/linear combination game that I had given her. We talked about how in such a game you should do the grouping elements first and then the linear elements, and how to tell whether rules are pointing to linear or grouping elements of the game. The student did a good job with this game, so we did one more like it together. Next time, we will start sequencing games, and I sent her a couple more grouping games to try on her own. Once we finish sequencing games we will move on to logical reasoning."
"The student took a full logical reasoning section yesterday. While reviewing the section, we discovered that she is struggling on assumption questions. We went over several of these questions, and I explained to her that the assumption has to be a direct link between the conclusion and one of the premises. Answer choices that do not directly relate to the conclusion or tie it to premises are almost always wrong. We also discussed the differences between necessary and sufficient conditions and outlined how to logically discern them from the problems. We noted that problems asking for the main conclusion of an argument will contain an answer choice that is a paraphrase or rewording of the conclusion. Finally, we went over a difficult logic game that she had done. Once we created the proper diagram, we were able to work on a couple of other problems as well. Overall, the student is making significant progress, and she will improve more as she continues to practice. For next time, she will do a full practice test."
