Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I met with the student and discussed how to approach studying for the upcoming exam as well as how graduate school differs from undergraduate. I recommended that the student focus on studying vocab lists as knowing the necessary vocabulary is a major part of performing well on the exam. I also recommended that he try some practice quantitative exams prior to our next meeting so we can focus on the types of problems he has difficulty with."
"We went over several math questions from the GRE prep book, including questions in geometry (areas of circles, squares, parallelograms, and triangles, using the Pythagorean Theorem, coordinate geometry) solving linear equations and algebra, and using exponent rules and quantitative comparison. The student was feeling nervous about the exam tomorrow but was solving much more complicated questions than at the beginning of our sessions."
"We covered four algebra problems that the student had worked on independently. We also practiced addition, subtraction, and multiplication with negative numbers, and lastly we started studying geometry and went over the formulas for area/ circumference of circles. She is struggling the most with remembering how to deal with negative signs in equations. I am sending her a list of problems to work through that should help her practice dealing with negatives in different situations. She needs to keep working through the problems in her book and ultimately prepare by timing herself taking practice tests. She is doing well at learning GRE strategies and I think she will do well if she keeps practicing!"
