Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student writes very well for his age. His personal narratives are detailed and structured. We are working on grammar and punctuation."
"Student did his vocabulary and science homework. He did very well remembering the answers to the science questions about the skeletal system, and came up with some great sentences on his own. His vocabulary homework was pretty simple as it did not involve writing, only matching words and phrases. He got stuck on one of the words, but with a little help he was able to go back and reread the definition on his own, and then find the correct answer. He has also been practicing his multiplication tables using a computer game that he is excited about. We didn't have time to do the game together, but I quizzed him on 3s and 4s and he did a great job-much faster than before! We finished the session by going over a few math problems he was having trouble with on calculating elapsed time. I encouraged him to think about the hours first before the minutes, and this was helpful to him. Student B worked on 4 pages of math homework-lots today! It was all on subtraction, using a number line and counting backwards. She did a great job with this. She was able to get through all four pages in about half an hour, and wrote some great math sentences and pictures for the open response problems. I helped her read through the choices and pick the activity she wanted to do later with mom and dad."
"The student wrote a rough draft of her persuasive essay last week, which we went over this time. The structure was there, but she needed to flesh it out with more textual evidence and development of the argument, which she did."
