Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued our work on adjectival endings. We went through the first three exercises together and started cementing the student's use of adjectives in different situations. The homework will be to finish the series of exercises, then go through a text and pick out the adjectives to explain their endings. I think the value of the exercise is that it will encourage a faster and more accurate application of the rules, which will make the speaking practice flow more easily next time."
"The student and I covered question words today. I asked him multiple questions in German and he had to answer using present perfect tense. The conversation was mostly about his holiday. The student is able to understand most German question words and is able to reply to questions. We also covered how to talk about more biographical and personal information (talking about his hobbies, major in college, hometown in Germany, etc.) Until our next meeting the student is supposed to review and study all conjugations of all verbs covered so far."
"Today, we began by taking a test about a beginning-to-read German book on dinosaurs. Student W did decently on the test. Student J wrote her German words and then we played a name-the-family member game online. Student J can spell all of her words from last time and Student W has a much richer vocabulary and uses German much more."
