Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I worked on her vocabulary homework for her world history class; we were able to finish up all 76 vocabulary words. She did very well keeping all the words and definitions organized on her papers."
"The student had a huge World History test today so we spent the duration of the session completing the study guide and I quizzed him on the questions from the study guide. This session went very well considering he was able to successfully answer all of the questions from the study guide with detailed explanations and historical context. He can now recite the five pillars of Islam and their significance as well as the major accomplishments of Ottoman Emperor Suleyman I."
"This week we spent half of the time going over his literature assignment. He had to work on reading comprehension and analysis of two of Robert Frost's poems. He was doing some great analysis but needs more practice with reading comprehension questions types. The second half we spent working on his world history. He had already completed the assignment so we merely went over his answers and talked about the time period. We ended by working on vocab questions which he did quite well with."
"The student is currently working on his research paper in global history. He has all the research information completed, a thesis written, and all of his topic sentences. Tonight we finished discussing his outline, and he is now ready to write his paper."
"We edited and re-wrote her essay comparing and contrasting two ancient empires as part of an extra credit assignment. As part of this tutoring, we worked on structuring and presenting an essay so that a clear argument is presented and well articulated."
"I worked with the student on Sunday. During that time I helped him in writing his English formal essay on the character of Maya in Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. We discussed how her character, the essential protagonist overcame the adversities and subordination of women. We further discussed how these adversities fashioned her into the published poet and civil rights activist of the 20th/21st centuries. He is doing GREAT!!!"
