Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I was very pleased with the student's progress at our session. He had done much better on his re-take test and remembered most of the vocabulary we had gone over previously. We tackled "ser" and "estar" differences and after a lot of practice the student got the hang of it. We ended the session by reviewing material from a review packet for his upcoming midterm."
"We worked on informal and formal negative and positive commands. The student also worked on a project due on Monday about teaching her class to do something, and she seems to understand the difference between plural and singular tu commands now."
"The student did a great job today. We read a book called "at the museum" and he wrote three sentences about it to finish his homework that is due every Friday. Then we made our 4 sentences using the verbs we have been working on. The last 10 minutes we played a card came he taught me, but in Spanish."
"We had a very good session! I had her write a short "me" poem in Spanish that described her life and interests. I also had the student look at pictures of landscapes and people and had her describe them to me in Spanish. She talked about colors, buildings, people, the feel of the picture, etc. All in all it was a very productive session and I think that she is beginning to master the ideas of describing things in other languages."
"Today we worked on the alphabet, pronunciation of the letters, and the extra letters in the Spanish alphabet. After reciting with Spanish pronunciation a couple times, the students began work on alphabet books. For each letter, we found a Spanish word beginning with that letter; They drew pictures and wrote the words. We'll continue working on it at the next session. With the first student, I used cards for each letter, laid out on the floor. We picked out toys, learned their names in Spanish, and then sorted them according to the beginning letter. Then, when it was time to clean up, I had him pick up everything that belonged with each letter, and we repeated the names as we put them away."
"We went over a classroom assignment. We explored a weather map and it's different functions. She wrote her own forecast to go along with the radar video on the website."
