Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the presentation to be made this week in class. I offered several tips on pronunciation, rhythm, pauses and inflection of the voice on certain words and phrases. I also gave advice on verb forms in preparation for an oral quiz."
"The client and I worked on another story that she needed to prepare for the next day. This story's vocabulary was more modern than the last one, and easier for her to understand. The story was also more interesting, and therefore she had an easier time reading. After the session, we discussed doing pronunciation exercises with the international phonetic alphabet, to help with her French pronunciation."
"I had the student look over some vocabulary to familiarize herself with it before our lesson, so we went over the pronunciation and usage of dates, time, introductions, asking and responding to "how are you?", and how to introduce other people including their relationship to you (family vocab and other common relationships), as well as parts of the body. She always comes ready to learn and has great questions."
"The student and I started by reviewing her semester 1 exam. We went over the harder questions and practiced with relative pronouns. Then we moved onto the next unit where we worked on the grammar quiz and wrote a response on the discussion board. She did a great job using process of elimination to determine the correct answer."
"We started the session by looking at the student's writing assignment. He chose to write a short poem. I suggested we look at some of the poems written in French by T. S. Eliot. I found one online, titled "Lune de Miel," and asked him to read it out loud. All the verbs are in present tense; I suggested that we should try to translate it into English, and his homework is to get started. Then we began our work on the future tense. We are going to go through all ten of our target verbs."
"We reviewed shopping vocabulary again and this time the other student got to pretend to be the customer in the store and practice their vocabulary in a French shopping skit. After the review, we started to move onto new vocabulary involving travel, after discussing places they would like to visit in the world. Overall it was a good session."
