Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We introduced graphing aspects and continued working on algebraic expressions/equations. The student was quick to pick up the graphing, but was having some issues with expressions (especially when negatives were involved). We worked through his troubles and eventually he was able to improve. I assigned him some practice work."
"We practiced adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing, using mind-calculation except division. He is still weak on division, and needs more practice. We practiced scientific notation. The student relearned exponent power, as he didn't remember what we had learned and practiced. We will continue to work on this next session."
"We practiced multiplication facts from 0 to 11. We then worked on multiples of five with different addends. We completed the session by practicing carrying by calculating the student's own score to determine the victor of the challenge."
"We reviewed a math practice test and targeted key concepts on questions she missed. We reviewed scale, writing algebraic expressions from word problems, test-taking strategies, equivalent fractions, and benchmark numbers. I am going to send the student some practice problems, and forwarded her a resource for finding additional practice tests. Before our next session, she will take a full practice test with authentic test conditions to assess if she feels comfortable taking her final test before the end of July."
"We reviewed adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. We began working on finding the equation of a line. We will continue to practice it next week. We reviewed the distributive property. He was having some difficulty with this still so we practiced this concept some more. I gave him practice problems on using the distributive property to work on for next week."
"We reviewed combining like terms, solving word problems, substitution for one variable, and scientific notation. The student does not show any signs of struggling with any old material. The student is very eager to learn, as always. The student has a book to do problems out of, so I advised him to try the hard ones and we can look over it next session."
