Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed basic introduction to trigonometric relationships with a heavy emphasis on SOHCAHTOA. We examined problems to test his abilities on determining missing side lengths in right triangles using the ratios. We discussed concepts of angles of elevation and depression. He received a 102 (bonus questions) on a quiz for special right triangles and Pythagorean theorem."
"We worked on test preparation for similarity in triangles and properties of right triangles. The student had this material down pretty well, as it seems that this semester the teachers are taking more time with their subjects before having students take a test. We worked on a review worksheet."
"We covered various problems on circles from the student's online assignments. We defined what a tangent line is and looked at inscribed angles, as well as other formulas for lines going through a circle, to find different angle and arc lengths. He seems to be able to comprehend what we went over and took notes while working through the problem. I think he just needs to spend a bit more time understanding and grasping the material, but he seems to understand it once he takes the time to think through it. It was a pleasure being able to talk to and work through the different problems with him, and we scheduled our next tutoring session for tomorrow."
"Today we covered sine functions and their uses. We did a few numerical problems as well as theoretical problems involving sine functions. We also reviewed a number of previous problems and techniques from the past."
"We reviewed some topics including compound interest, sequences, and area. After giving the student some formulas he didn't have, it seemed to help him understand the topics better. We will continue this Friday."
"Today we covered many concepts including the Pythagorean theorem, distance formula, midpoint formula, circumference, area, and perimeter, bisecting angles, angles of a triangle, irregular shapes, solving inequalities, triangles side, cosine, and similar and congruent triangles. This was all in preparation for the student's benchmark. We completed one entire review packet. His greatest accomplishment from this session was getting through all of the material. He did a phenomenal job and has shown evidence of tremendous growth and confidence."
