Session Summaries by LSAT Tutors

Chandler, AZ LSAT tutoring
The student and I split our time between logic games and logical reasoning. He has really improved significantly on the games in our time together. His setup is much better and his accuracy has improved to something like 70-75% per section -- a huge improvement from where we began. He is able to complete some games with no mistakes. However, he is improving with the logical reasoning questions. Typically he is now between two answer choices. We will continue to work on it.

We did some logic games. I left him with homework to do. He needed to complete at least one reading comprehension section timed, and hopefully one logic games section timed before we see each other next. At this point we are really fine-tuning before the test in early February.

We briefly discussed the student's most recent practice test. We went through one full set of games, and despite there being several types she was not familiar with, she did fairly well. It's also great practice to learn to handle a game she's not familiar with in case there is one on the exam. We also went through a full section of the logical reasoning. She only missed 5, which she said is around average. She definitely excels on some of the harder questions, such as the parallel reasoning ones, so I think as we continue to practice and she gets used to reading very carefully, this will also improve.

The student and I went through a logic games section. We did timing exercises for her first, then went through each question so that she understood why the correct answer was the correct answer and how to get to that point. She brought with her an LSAT I had assigned the previous session. Her score improved marginally. We will be meeting tomorrow morning to continue timing exercises.

We had our best session yet on the logic games. The student did an excellent job of getting through a big chunk of reading even though this is a busy part of her semester. We worked through advanced linear games today and they went really well. She is going to practice the basic linear and advanced linear between now and Friday to make sure they're really nailed down. She will try to begin reading the grouping section and then we can try to start that on Friday (at least during the last 30 minutes or so if she still needs some work on the games).

The student and I got started with Reading Comp and also worked on LR a good amount. RC can be intimidating but she's off to a great start. She will try to do a practice test before next week when we will talk about quantifiers as well as more games.
