Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over pendulum motion, springs, and conservation of energy together. The session started a little slow, but toward the end she was leading the conversation and I had her explain to me each part of the problems we looked over."
"We covered her last assignment and went over how to explain output/results of a multiple regression analysis to the layperson, including interpretation of coefficients, r-squared values, etc. She was enthusiastic and eager as always."
"He was working on waves and interference with some tricky problems regarding Doppler shifts and constructive and destructive interference. It always takes some practice and experience to get the tenets of these problems to sink in, but the student seems to be able to pick many of those up quite well."
"In this session, we discussed the differences between animal cells and plant cells. We discussed the functions of all intracellular organelles in both animal and plant cells. We've also talked about cell cycle and cell division and we briefly discussed meiosis and mitosis. The student was slightly confused about some terms in cell division like chromatid, chromatin, and chromosome. We were able to briefly discuss the differences between those terms, but we may still need to explain the whole process of cell cycle, cell division, meiosis, and mitosis in the coming sessions. I sent practice problems to the student about plant cells and animal cells, but I did not send practice problems about cell division, as we may still need to discuss it in more details in the future sessions."
"In this session, we prepared for a quiz the following day on forces and free body (force) diagrams. We discussed forces conceptually and how forces produce acceleration, but motion and forces/accelerations are separate. We also reviewed and practiced some additional motion in one-dimension problems."
"In this session, we prepared for the student's test on Chapter 15 and 16. We went through her previous quizzes and went over any concepts that she had not mastered on these quizzes, along with reviewing the other questions. We worked on drawing out some diagrams and coming up with helpful memory triggers in order to remember concepts better. I suggested that she go over these quizzes, and some of the homework that she has done for these chapters in order to study."
