Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Yesterday the student and I completed his test prep for his science test. He had all of his materials waiting for me when I arrived. We also worked on his math homework. He has shown a lot of progress and is a hard worker. He never gives up. I believe I encourage him a lot to make him want to continue pushing forward. As long as I have been working with him he has never complained and always put in effort."
"The student and I reviewed over carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids for her exam last week. We reviewed primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary structures of the macromolecules and their function regarding cellular processes and reactions. We also reviewed some amino acid nomenclature as it is bound to come up in future sections. I tried my best to note possible subjects that are commonly used in exam questions, especially for memorizing types of lipids regarding the types of fatty acids, glycerols, and functional groups that are used in their synthesis."
"She has started working on rotational motion. I helped her define the relationships between rotational displacement, velocity, and accelerations with their linear equivalents. I also showed her some online tutorials to gain practice working with torques."
"In this session, we went over a selection of practice test questions related to medicine. We started with a few cardiopulmonary questions, including how to calculate cardiac output using AVO2 difference and the effects of various heart conditions like mitral stenosis, regurgitation, and septal defect. We also discussed the effect of acidity and oxygen on the hemoglobin saturation curve. Following that, we delved into diastole and systole and the effect of abnormal rhythms on diastolic BP. To finish, we went over acid-base balance and how to determine acidosis/alkalosis using a serum analysis."
"In this session, we went over integration. The student was unable to solve the most complex integration problem given in his homework, and we worked on it today. We went over the rules for integrating exponents and cosines with a magnitude. This was the area he struggled with. We will resume after break."
"In this session, we went over Mendelian genetics and pedigrees. We completed a couple of worksheets on those subjects in preparation for a quiz coming up next week. I think the student has a great grasp on the concepts!"
