Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the student's homework. We focused on building sentences in German. I left him with more homework."
"Today, we went over specific situations that required them to learn new phrases as well as create sentences of their own using words they have learned. They did very well in taking previous lesson material to respond to questions and comments I made in German. Additionally, we went over common conjunctions that would help them combine clauses to form more fluent sentences. They've shown great improvement in both comprehension and pronunciation."
"Today the student and I covered personal pronouns in singular and plural forms, as well as the personal pronoun 'Sie' (used in formal language). We reviewed the present tense conjugation of the verb 'sein', and talked about the student's recent vacation with his family. We covered gender and the definite article (the) and got familiar with the conjugation of the verb 'sein' in past tense. Overall, he performed very well, and he remembered most of what we covered in our first session. Until next session, he will review the different forms and tenses of the verb 'sein'."
"The student studied the Preterite in all its applications and situations that can be used. He did several written exercises with a variety of verbs including regular, irregular and stem-changing verbs. He knows and understands the meaning and the use of the preterite, and although he has very few difficulties with some verbs conjugated in the preterite tense, he only needs to memorize them to conjugate them in the correct form. Through the lesson, he practiced reading, comprehension, pronunciation and intonation. He is improving his reading skills."
"The student told me about his past week and his career as a teacher. In particular, he told me about one incident at his first teaching job and how he went on to gain other valuable experiences for over 40 years teaching English. Then, we continued with the reading of Isabel Allende's novel El Amante Japones."
"The student took "por and para" quiz. We made sentences with the different feminine noun endings. She conjugated the verb "gustar" in the present tense and studied the different indirect object pronouns it is used with. We had a brief conversation to practice his oral skills."
