Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over Big O notation and Algorithm complexity. Also, we spent some time trouble shooting a dynamic linked list app we're working on as a project."
"We reviewed the high-level concepts of OS design that were covered in class - design goals, mechanism vs. policy, architectural strategies. The student should work on the exercises at the end of Chapter 2 in his textbook before our next session."
"Today, we covered report construction. The student had an easy time formatting reports because it's very similar to using Microsoft Word. She also had a fairly easy time designing queries for the reports. Next session, we will continue to work on constructing the reports and determining where in the report to place each item."
"We made solid progress on getting the student's programs working together tonight. I was able to help him set up his printer and log onto his company's web mail. We brought down a sample file and worked together to fix the mapping so he could correctly read the data and successfully print out the labels on his printer. Next week, he will try to get a raw data file that needs to be converted to Excel so that I can work with him on that process."
"We worked on practice problems for pivot tables and looked up functions today. The student is definitely seeing the usefulness of pivot tables. Next week, we will do some more practice that incorporates everything that we have learned so far."
"We worked over email yesterday and today. I was sent the directions for the project and files that had been completed. I reviewed them, and then reported back to the student on places where items needed to be fixed. We continued to communicate back and forth until the project was completed."
