Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Review for her test: chemical-physical changes, examples for each, heterogeneous and homogenous mixtures, element, compounds, different ways of separating mixtures--distillation, filtration, evaporation, decantation etc."
"I went over topics and calculations of nuclear chemistry that the student was having trouble with. We reviewed how to calculate binding energy and half life and worked on several problems. We also reviewed how to recognize different types of decay, fission, and fusion. I reviewed how to write linear regression equations. We then worked on several geometry proof problems."
"We reviewed ideal gas laws, including Charles, Boyle, and Avogadro. We worked problems using those laws."
"This session was a review of difficult chemistry topics for the student's comprehensive exam. During the session, we covered topics spanning her entire fall semester of chemistry, focusing on conversions, Lewis structures, VSEPR, quantum mechanics, and redox."
"This tutoring session was spent preparing the student for his math exam tomorrow. He had two worksheets that needed to be completed, and we got through everything but the last problem. He understood all of the concepts covered during the session, and I encouraged him to review every problem and concept prior to his exam tomorrow."
"This was an introductory session to prepare for the student's test tomorrow. Specifically, we honed in on the details of electron configurations, principle energy levels, and quantum mechanics. The student at first understood the concepts on the surface but was having trouble putting it into a bigger picture to gather the actual meaning. There were some charts and questions presented in class that were not very clear to her, so we reviewed in detail what the teacher actually meant and we made her much more prepared for the test and comfortable with the material. A win from this session is that the bigger picture of electron configurations and orbitals became clearer."
