Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the student's modified budget homework assignment in Excel. I also showed her how to do basic formulas and functions in Excel. By the end of the session, she knew how to create a budget using formulas in Excel."
"We reviewed 2 problems for Chapter 12. We reviewed Accounting Rate of Return with different net cash flow amounts for different years to determine if an investment was good. We also reviewed net present value to determine if an expansion investment was a good decision or not. We discussed next session to go over the review sheet for final. Next session will be Sunday."
"Prior to the session, the student sent over his Lesson assignments and Case studies for his 8 week class. He mentioned he had read through his text prior to the session, so he was well prepared for the concept discussions today. We worked through lesson 1, first using data to calculate a cash flow statement. This involved building an income statement and balance sheet first, then working through cash flow from assets, cash flow to creditors and cash flow to investors to get a total annual cash flow. He did very well on this section and had improved his Excel skills from our previous sessions back in January. Next, we started to discuss case study 1 that deals with a choice to go to graduate school for an MBA and what school to attend based on projected future earnings and cost of schooling. We talked through the first couple of questions and then decided to put the calculations on hold as these relate to lesson 2 questions. For the last piece of the session, he and I discussed a plan for our future sessions about what to cover when and how to allocate time to his project assignment due at the end of the class. He and I will decide on our next session by Sunday."
