Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In the session we covered two of the six "big topics" for the AP Exam. Specifically: Periodic trends, Lewis Structures, Bond Types, Dipoles, Intermolecular Forces, Shapes, Subatomic Particles, and Nuclear Chemistry."
"Today we finished our discussion on neurophysiology. We covered synapses, EPSPs and IPSPs, and then moved into nervous system organization with the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. We also discussed brain organization. In addition to this, we discussed different sensory processes such as photo, audio, chemo, and chemoreception. Moving from neurophysiology, we went into muscle physiology to discuss skeletal muscle and the cross-bridge cycle of actin and myosin. We will schedule another session for this week."
"We worked on the student's magnetics. I was able to go through some problems with him. He understands most of the information and is ahead in class. His next exam is on the right hand rule and he should be prepared for it."
"The student and I reviewed a few questions from the last section of his first semester physics course, and began discussing the first section from his next semester of physics."
"We started working on limiting reactants and computing the amount of product produced at the end of the reaction."
"The student has an exam on Tuesday, so we went over her practice exam in detail and went over study skills for her to practice with. We started with reviewing the Simmon Smith Reaction in detail, and then we went over half of her practice exam step by step. I would first ask her how she approached the question, then give her tips on how to change that or look at it differently, then we would go over the answer and why it was correct. I also went over her previous exam with her and ways I thought she could improve, including writing out the different problems and steps for herself as she went."
