Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is still taking practice tests for the National French Exam which the teacher plans to test them on after Spring Break. We reworked 2 exams and reviewed vocabulary learned in last lesson. "
"Topics covered with the first student dealt with Spanish - vocabulary, subject/adjective agreement, and culture. Progress achieved was an overall review of the 3 culture sections, vocabulary from all units, and an understanding of subject/adjective agreements. Topics covered with the second student dealt with algebra - using point-slope intercept form, general form, finding percent of change, solving expressions, and inequalities with absolute value. Progress achieved was reviewing the entire final study guide and practicing problems for fluency in finding slopes given points, percent changes, and solving/graphing various inequalities and expressions."
"This week we covered a variety of topics once again. We got a head start in Spanish. This week should be much easier for her. We found all of her key terms for her history review, and made online note cards for chapter 6. We finished the grammar packet for English, and made note cards for the SAT words of the week. "
"Today we introduced more "where?" question phrases like we began last week, talking about where people live, being at home or elsewhere, and rooms in the house. We also got to revisit asking names and some of the different pronouns. This time the student could read them and write them out!"
"We talked about what the student found challenging when she took the SAT in November. Based on this, we mainly focused on writing multiple choice and reading sections. We discussed specific grammatical principles (to be expanded on in future sessions) as well as overall test-taking strategies."
"Today went well. We covered one of the problem sets in the student's class. The concepts were very complex, but I was able to break them down in a very understanding way. A definite win from the session was that we had a good pace with the assignment and a good overall flow."
