Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the prep for his next test. I recommended a few tips about how to look at a problem and immediately make some determinations about it. I recommended he write some of those down, and doing so will show his teacher he understands what it going on even if he doesn't get the full problem correct. He said he did well on his last test, getting an 80, when most of his class did much worse."
"We covered the rational zero test, solving polynomials equations. H had 31 exercises to do, and he did 27 in two hours, which is very good!"
"We covered the student's assigned homework from his syllabus - sections 1.6 and 2.1. Topics covered included: interval notation, linear inequalities, relative maxima & minima, and how to use a graphing calculator to find these things. He was prepared and attentive for the entire session."
"We covered the unit circle, radians and the six trigonometric functions. The student did not know much about these things coming in, but seems to have a decent grasp on them now. He will need reinforcement though--it is good to drill trig functions in. The student seems to struggle some with algebraic skills, which I assume is what is making pre-calc difficult for him. We did some problems as well."
"We covered TI-89 calculator linear regression. Most of the material now is review from Algebra. We also worked word problems and volume calculations by substituting for different formulas. She is progressing nicely, the website she is required to study sometimes has glitches but we work through them."
"We covered topics in finding all real and imaginary roots of equations, using various methods such as substitution. I sent over some material for her to read over, and possibly even go over in the next session if necessary. Her attitude can be described as diligent and willing to learn, like usual. She said she does not have any tests or exams coming up, but our goal is that she is prepared when one does come up."
