Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we continued to work on proofs and review for her test. We primarily focused on the student's practice problems from class. We completed some of the proofs together, taking our time to really discuss them and the processes used to solve them. We discussed strategies that she can use when solving the proofs (such as writing down everything she can tell from the drawing, making a game-plan, if-then statements, etc.)."
"Today we covered compositions of transformations, which were mainly translations, reflections, glide reflections, and rotations. Overall, the student had no trouble understanding the concepts, but did need a bit of help graphing reflections when a problem asked for reflecting over a line that was not the x- or y-axis. She always has a positive attitude towards the material and is not afraid to let me know when she needs more clarification. In Spanish, she is retaking a quiz covering the use of preterit and imperfect verbs. She seems to understand what endings to use and what type of verb to use according to the context of a sentence. I believe she will do well on her upcoming quiz."
"Today we covered concepts of the angles in transversals and parallel lines, which included finding angles of alternate interior/exterior, same side interior/exterior, and corresponding. Then, we continued to finish a quiz for homework."
"Today we covered equation of a straight line in the slope-intercept form, signed numbers as applied to slopes, and vertical and corresponding angles. We also worked on problems related to solutions of angles on an x-y coordinate plane. The student's attitude was very good. We worked on her previous class tests for preparation of the repeat test. An excellent first session."
"Today we covered geometric proofs involving angles. First, we reviewed definitions of terms such as complementary, supplementary, and vertical angles. Next, we looked at examples of each term. Then, we began our proofs. I had to remind the student to not skip any steps and put a reason for each step. I will be emailing his mother a copy of a helpful PP to review."
"Today we covered midpoint formula, distance formula, triangles, and angles. We covered working backwards using the midpoint formula to find an endpoint. The student was focused on problem solving and learning. She is able to finish a problem by herself quickly once she is guided with the correct conceptualization/procedure."
