Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we continued to work on the first practice test in the guide to the GRE. In the verbal reasoning section we went over skills for eliminating wrong answers such as: finding key words, looking for positively and negatively charged answers, and looking for answer that are too strong to be right. In the math section, she is doing very well. We paid particular attention to probabilities and ratios as that seems to be her main problem. We also spent time working on standard deviations."
"First we talked about vocab, words to prioritize before the test next week, and strategies. We went over questions from the practice test I had assigned. She had improved considerably on verbal. I gave her some packets I had made with sample rate and combination/permutation problems. I assigned another practice test (timed; including outlining the two essays) as well as continued vocab review."
"For our last session, we started by taking an in-depth look at combinations, permutations, and reviewed problems from the quantitative section. We used some of the exercises on the website to cover specific areas in math that have given her trouble in the past like notably data interpretation, combinations/permutations, and probability. We ended by reviewing a verbal section, focusing mostly on the reading passages and comprehension questions. She says that she feels much better prepared than when she first took the GRE; I think she has made definite improvements, especially in the analytical writing section."
