Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on biology diagnostic number 6. Topics included stereochemistry, epimers, enantiomers, diastereomers, meso compounds, the Wittig reaction, basicity strength, PI, amino acids chemistry, etc."
"Both students began by going over Enzyme Kinetics and enzyme reaction mechanisms and finished by working on a CARS practice passage. Student one struggled with determining the relationship between variables and applying that knowledge to solve problems. She specifically got tripped up by Km, so we'll focus on that in the next few sessions."
"My student and I began by working through a list of topics she had trouble with in her study of general chemistry this last week. First, we tested her stoichiometry skills with several practice questions, which she performed quite well on. After this we discussed emission spectra and the Bohr model of an atom, explaining the theory behind energy levels. Next, we walked through the periodic trends, attempting to go beyond memorization and find a rationale for each. She seemed to have a solid understanding of this particular topic after our brief review. We then worked several practice questions and passages in general chemistry, practicing her knowledge of intra and intermolecular bonding, stoichiometry, and polarity. We finished the session with a practice passage in CARS, on which she didn't get a single question wrong."
"The student and I reviewed the balance of his homework that was due last session. He is definitely improving on the data sufficiency questions. I asked him to complete his homework from last session, so we could cover it next session, and then move on to verbal."
"The student completed her homework. She answered 43/50 grammar questions correctly. She is good at identifying tested grammar rules. We also looked at boldface and conclusion critical reasoning. She handles them pretty well and will get better with practice."
"The student did nice work today on both the quant and the verbal. We looked at rate, volume, complex fractions, and square roots. Also, we did the "Direct Mail" reading, which went well, plus some sentences."
