Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed his most recent test, so that he can better understand what was being asked of him, and so that he knows better what to do for the final. He is learning about t-tests from dependent groups, and calculating various statistics associated with those groups. We are going to continue reviewing his exam during our next session."
"Tonight, the student and I covered questions involving molecular modeling and precipitation reactions. She had a firm understanding of the concepts underlying precipitation reactions. She will be taking an exam this Friday covering many topics, which we will review on Thursday evening."
"The student and I reviewed the reading comprehension strategy and then turned back to quant. We covered a few questions from his homework and then covered substantive algebra. I asked him to practice algebra and fractions/decimals/percentages online, complete Quant 5, and to take a practice exam."
"The student and I worked on math. She completed a full practice test. We will continue working on mathematics in the future. Additionally, I will be making a study guide of formulas for her to memorize before the test."
"The student needed help understanding how to solve proportions. Through many examples and having him do some problems on his own, he was able to solve proportions in his summer math packet. Along with that, I also helped him with his word problems that he had in his packet. He should be able to answer them as long as he is able to visualize what the problem is asking for and also turning the words into mathematical equations. The day was spent mostly on making sure his summer packet was complete and ready to turn in and also making sure he understands how to do every problem inside."
"The student was cheerful today when I arrived. We worked on a little math so I could see how he extracts information when confronted with word problems and then began reading from the book Sudden Twist. The story he read was The Big Day by Jack Ritchie. I used part of the story to complete a running record."
