"Today we went over alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, corresponding angles, transversals, and same side interior angles. The student understood the material very well. She has a strong hold of geometric concepts, and she is able to apply algebra when necessary to determine angle values. She will have an exam in her class next week, so I will send her a short practice exam to work on over the weekend. I am confident she will do very well."
"Today we worked on a PSAT practice test. Mainly the student did well with it, but had a little trouble setting up some of the geometry problems. We worked through some of those types of problems and I sent him some practice. We are also going to focus on setting up systems of equations from word problems during Thursday's session."
"Today we worked on enumerated types of transformation: translation, rotation, reflection, and dilation. We classified given transforms, determining whether distance and shape varied from pre-image to image. Combined transforms to generate patterns."
"Today we worked on proofs. She did very well. She was just lacking the confidence in her decisions. I gave her links to sites where she can practice proofs during the week. With a little more practice, she will have no issues doing these."
"Today we worked on the student's geometry work and laid out some structures that he can use throughout the year to help him keep track of the new information he is learning. He did a good job of talking through the problems we did today, and remembered some of the techniques that we practiced in our previous session (finding relevant examples, checking the answers and working backwards). We focused a lot today on understanding problems and working them several ways as a way of demonstrating a deeper grasp of the concept. I left him with one problem to work that was very similar to one of the ones he did in his homework. I also asked him to begin keeping track of each new definition, theorem, and postulate that he learns in the class from this point forward. I think this will help him to structure his proofs as he moves forward, ensuring that he has a clear idea of what his options are when he is trying to think of statements and reasons for his proofs."
"Today, he and I worked on Geometry principles including proofs and analysis. He did not struggle with the material and had a positive attitude throughout the session. I included strategies to simplify the material and convey certain concepts. I did not see any scores, and I do not have any concerns. I look forward to our next session."
