Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our session, I tested the student on the vocab we wrote down during our last session. I also looked at the sentences I had her write down for the new vocab words. She started working on the road atlas project by selecting a car and looking up the tank size and mileage information. We will work on the road atlas project during our next session."
"During this session, we completed two homework assignments that focused on solving equations (with and without fractions). She did a great job and showed that many math skills have become second nature for her (ex. distributing, manipulating with negatives). We are still working on word problems and rate."
"During today's session, adding and subtracting polynomials was reviewed. She did not have homework in math. Exercises were used to review the skill. She improved during the session as she completed independent practice."
"During today's session, he and I reviewed solving multi-step inequalities with variables on both sides. I modeled and explained the process for solving the questions that he missed on his most recent assessment. Though he was able to actually solve the vast majority of the questions correctly, including setting up and solving application problems, he lost a lot of points to "attention to detail" issues. However, I have noticed a tremendous improvement in this area and his ability to "talk through" a question and self-correct along the way."
"Exponents and equations with one variable. The student understood most of the concepts, but would occasionally slip up and multiply the base instead of the exponent. On top of his work that he got from his class, I also showed him a few real world applications of how people use exponents."
"Finished 2 and a half online assignments. Topics included multistep equations, solving and graphing inequalities, and determining constant variation of an equation given data. We then worked towards improving paper organization within notebooks to attain a more useful reclamation of information."
