Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered a complex strumming pattern for the song "Then" by Brad Paisley which gave the student some trouble at first, but she had it down by the end. We just broke it down into smaller segments and that helped her a lot. We also talked about how to expand on chords in order to give them a fuller sound. She's getting better every week!"
"Today we worked on centripetal force and acceleration, torque and rotation vs revolution. It was handy that we met at a building that has both a lazy susan and a swinging door to help illustrate the concepts. The student always has a strong grasp of how to use the equations, and he had finished his worksheet ahead of time. We spent the session making sure he understood the concepts behind the math. At the end of the session, we spent a little time reviewing his thesis statement, sources, and outline for his persuasive essay for English class."
"We went over her egg drop project, and reviewed her homework on momentum and impact time. She could use the equations quite well, and by the end, she was getting better at choosing which equation to use."
"We went through some of her old Chemistry tests and reworked some of the math questions. In addition to working problems, I gave her some test taking suggestions (watching for simple math errors, showing work, patience)."
"Reviewed paper turned in - showed him a highlighting technique to self-check work. Discussed previous math quiz. The student felt much more confident in this quiz than previously. I asked him to look back at past assignments and ask to get tests and things like that from teachers so we can review them."
