## Session Summaries by Statistics Tutors

We went over hypothesis testing using z-tests, binomial z-tests, and t-tests. We also went over the student's final exam which she will be taking tomorrow. The student understood the conceptual material.
This session we looked at more advanced probability problems involving the multiplication rule as well as conditional probability. We also looked at more complex usage of the normal curve.
Covered several chapters pertaining to relationships through independence and mutually exclusive events to Bernoulli random variables.
We discussed the use of 95% CI as a test to compare the differences of means. First we computed 95% CI for two different groups and looked for overlap, and then a CI based on a mean difference. We then moved on to Chi-squared testing, and after referencing some online material, we were able to perform three contingency table Chi-squared analyses.
Today, the student and I met for our first tutoring session. We covered her class structure and her previous statistics experience and feelings so far in the class. We then went over her homework, and she did a great job of breaking down problems into their components and tackling them piece by piece. We practiced some extra conditional probabilities which she did great on, and finally we reviewed her notes to solidify the concepts covered.
We covered Z-scores, normal models, raw scores, percentiles, confidence intervals, effect size, and degrees of freedom. The student's attitude was great, communicative, and positive.
