"The student was working with rotational kinematics, torque, and Newton's second law for rotational motion. We did some problems relating torque both to I-alpha and to force times perpendicular lever arm. I think she has a pretty good handle on the material, but probably needs some more practice with setting problems up on her own, so I will send her a couple problems to work on in the next few days."
"The student showed a large improvement over the last time we worked together. He is still working on angular kinematics but now seems to have a much better grasp of the subject. He was able to answer an entire worksheet correctly with only a little help. He seems to know the equations associated with the subject well but sometimes forgets when to use which equation. He is a very auditory learner and enjoys talking through questions but I am trying to encourage him to also write down each step. Although he can talk through the concepts and knows what to do, he sometimes gets lost when trying to put his thoughts on paper. Practicing writing out each step should significantly improve this."
"Today, we began with one problem from the student's Differential Equations class, and then worked on her Electrical Engineering homework. She had already solved the differential equations problem, but was having trouble simplifying her answer to the answer the instructor wanted. We worked through simplifying it till it was in the same form. Then, we began working on her current Electronics homework. This time, the focus was on the energy stored or used in each circuit. We went through the equations for Resistors, Inductors and Capacitors and solved a few problems. When we finished, we still had 2 problems left, but she was sure she could work them on her own."
"I brought in another set of questions for the student to work on in her own time so she can have a little extra study material before the test. She successfully completed her homework and her lab assignments. She seems to generally understand the concepts."
"In this session, we reviewed an authentic AP Physics 1 practice exam. The student scored well on the questions covering material she had already covered in class."
"Tonight, we went over the test that the student just got back from his thermals course. We covered his solutions, the answer key, and alternative approaches to solving each of the problems. We also continued reviewing the Buckingham Pi Theorem, and he did 2 example problems to continue drilling this skill. Additionally, we discussed his newly assigned project and what to expect."
