We worked on a lot of different topics that he has been struggling with this session. We first started by going through a passage on his most recent physical sciences practice test section. It was a passage on phases that he had some trouble interpreting a graph, but he understood after going back through. We then went over electrochemical cells including galvanic cells, electrolytic, and concentration cells. We went over how these are similar and different and did some practice problems in identifying what is being oxidized and reduced and what is the cathode and anode. We also went over how to determine the reduction potential of a cell using standard reduction potentials. Next, we reviewed electrophoresis and isoelectric focusing for separation of amino acids and the foundations of this process in relation to pI and charge. Next, we reviewed fertilization and embryology including the morula, blastula, gastrulation, and neurulation. He forgot some of the details of this process so it was worthwhile to review it again. Similarly, we went over meiosis in relation to the sperm and egg as well as its relation to the female menstrual cycle and reproductive anatomy.

The student was preparing for a quiz on her summer packet. We started with a review of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. Then, she asked to practice combining positive and negative numbers. Afterwards, we practiced solving one-step and two-step equations. We also went over solving equations using cross multiplication. She felt comfortable with order of operations, adding decimals, and evaluating expressions by substituting in values for the variables. Then, she practiced solving and graphing inequalities. Lastly, she asked to practice a couple of problems factoring composite numbers. We made a two page study guide covering the different skill sets. I suggested that she might read through it once more before she takes the quiz. She had good recall on the different topics and asked excellent questions when she was unsure. She did a great job!

We did a potential energy graph, and determined the turning points for an object with a certain total energy. Then we did a problem integrating a force to get work, then using the work to determine change in kinetic energy. Finally, we solved a momentum conservation problem in which kinetic energy was not conserved. The student has to present videos of her showing how to solve these three problems, which will result in an A in the course!
