Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did math, reading, and science work. Our sessions went very well, and I think she will see a considerable increase in her score."
"The student and I spent this session reviewing her performance on her practice ACT. I had her take a test using the extra time accommodation she will receive for this weekend's test. The extra time made a tremendous difference in her score. She and her parents were quite pleased with her 30. Although this was slightly higher than I expected, I was quite positive that her scores would be in the high 20's. She did very well on this test. She did an excellent job on the science, missing only one question. All of the other questions she missed were due to guessing after running out of time. She missed a few reading questions, but, otherwise, the results were similar to her science performance. When I pointed out where to find the answers to the questions in the passages, she could easily understand my explanations. She will likely do very well this weekend. We did not have time to work completely through the math section, but she did understand the explanations for the questions that we did have time to review. Overall, she is quite well prepared for this weekend's test, and she should score well."
"Today was the student's and my last meeting. We spent half the meeting discussing math problems and working on questions about triangles, lines, and word problems. We then discussed general test strategy and summarized what she should keep in mind and try to do during each section of the test. We finished with a discussion of the essay question and how she should structure her response. She had the great idea of stating counterarguments against opposing viewpoints to begin and then going into the strengths of her own argument. She has the building blocks to write a solid essay. Her scores and work have improved significantly since we started working together. Her speed and comprehension of the reading section, as well as all the rules she memorized for the math section, impress me every time we meet."
