Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked through his practice test. He has good instincts on some and he rushes through others. Working together we got an 83. I would estimate his individual score around a 35 to 40. I believe that would still be an acceptable AP score."
"We went over specifics of G-Protein signal transduction. Activation of the alpha subunit via GEF and inactivation via GAP. We also talked about the different target effectors of G-Proteins which may produce secondary messengers CAMP, DAG, IP3, depending on the target effectors (Adenylyl Cyclase, Phospholipase C, or Ion Channels). I am going to send some notes of mine to the student for extra material to go over."
"The student worked all his problems out already for previous classes so we worked on future sessions. We just talked for an hour about his future chapter which is on water. We covered condensation, evaporation, surface tension, intermolecular forces etc. I also helped with his precalculus: law of sines and cosines."
"We worked on orbitals, dimensional analysis, hybridization, resonance structures, formal charge, steric numbers, studying strategies, the ideal gas law, ICE diagrams, Lewis structures, bond energy, and other topics."
"We worked on precalc subjects involving logs and their properties. The student seems okay with the material, and we are just working out a few details. The student's attitude was good! Our main strategy was to encourage him to try multiple ways of solving before giving up. I left extra practice from his book."
"We worked on predicting and balancing equations. I believe the student learned the proper way of balancing equations. We are studying again on Thursday and I should be able to evaluate her again. She has a take-home exam due on Monday. We should be able to go over all the concepts so that she can do her exam by herself."
